Time for a hike!

CSU Channel Islands reopened University Park this week, allowing the public on the trails for the first time since the Springs Fire. Campus officials urged visitors to stay on trails and be mindful of fire damage.
The Springs Fire, which started May 2, burned through as much as 75 percent of University Park, formerly Camarillo Regional Park. The park, which has hiking trails but is largely undeveloped, is near the former entrance to the university, bordered by Calleguas Creek. During the closure, staff members cleaned up damage and addressed safety concerns, officials said. University Park has no restrooms and cell service may be unreliable. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Parking inside the park costs $6 per vehicle.
